4x MTB World Champion
Mountain bike legend, 4x World Champion, and Hall of Fame Inductee, Brian Lopes is an all-around bike enthusiast. Lopes has had a 20+ year career as a professional cyclist and is considered “undisputedly the best all-around world-class cycling athlete,” by USA Today. After starting on two wheels at a very young age, Brian became a pro racer by the age of 17 and competed in the BMX circuit for seven years before turning his focus to mountain biking in 1993. He went straight to the Norba National and has won over 19 titles in his mountain biking career; nine National Championship titles, six UCI World Cup wins, and four UCI Mountain Bike World Champion titles.
“My journey on two wheels started at 4 years old in Mission Viejo, CA. My bike helped me build confidence, independence, and friendships. Then, I turned my hobby into a career, racing bicycles worldwide, and earned my place in the history books for both the BMX and MTB Hall of Fame. As riders, we all know the joy that riding brings us and that the younger you start, the better. Riding teaches balance, and balance is the key to everything we do in life, so why not start with learning to balance on your bicycle at a young age and the rest will all fall into place. I’m passionate about getting kids on the right track towards a healthy lifestyle and I’m committed to helping kids learn how to ride bikes in school, starting with the area I grew up.” – Brian Lopes
As an All Kids Bike national ambassador, Brian has helped to raise over $25,000 for the Kindergarten PE Learn-To-Ride Program. Brian continues to work towards raising awareness and fundraising to reach his goal of raising over $55,000 for the All Kids Bike program.
