Cole Irvin is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball. Cole and wife, Kristen Beat, a sports reporter from NBC Sports and Fox Sports 1, generously donated to All Kids Bike, to fund the Learn-to-Ride Kindergarten PE Program to Federal Hill Prep Academy in Baltimore, MD.
Growing up in Southern California, Cole Irvin loved baseball more than anything but pursuing that meant a need for dedication and routine. To practice and throw consistently, he would ride his bike from their family home to the baseball fields and high schools nearby. Riding bikes provided him not only transportation but freedom and a way to pursue his dream without having to rely on anyone but himself.
That independence and mobility transpired into a work ethic that allowed him to earn a college scholarship and eventually a starting pitching job in Major League Baseball. He would ride his bike to the park, bring his ball and baseball mitt, and play the game he loved which he eventually made his career.
That’s why supporting the All Kids Bike movement and the Baltimore community was paramount for Cole while playing for the Orioles. Riding a bike can open up a new world of opportunities, a unique sense of freedom, and life long skills for years to come.
