Ellen Zambo Anderson, PT, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Health Professions, Rutgers University. She received her BS in Physical Therapy from West Virginia University, an MA in Movement Science from Columbia University, a Ph.D. in Health Sciences from Rutgers University. Ellen collaborated with Special Olympics New Jersey to develop Special Olympics Young Athletes, which has become the premier inclusive play-sport program for young children with intellectual and developmental disabilities around the world.
She now consults with Special Olympics International, serving as the Global Advisor for Young Athletes. Ellen has written articles and book chapters on exercise and complementary therapies. She has spoken internationally on issues related to physical activity and wellness for people with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and chronic health conditions. She believes that physical fitness helps to provide the foundation for living life to its fullest and is proud to support All Kids Bike in their effort to get all kids biking.
