Professional Mountain Bike Athlete
Jason Blodgett is a professional mountain bike athlete who grew up in Northern Ohio, where he fell in love with BMX racing and ball sports. In 2012, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, and went to Marian University on a cycling scholarship. While at Marian, he transitioned from a Category 4 racer to professional ranks, winning four team National Championships in Division 1 racing.
Bikes have been such a huge part of Jason’s life, and luckily, one of his sponsors, SRAM, is located in Indianapolis where their relationship grew into an internship, then a part-time job, and finally a full-time job. He is currently the Technical Education & Support Specialist, which supports the US dealer market with education on new and existing products.
“I love nothing more than riding my bike and seeing young kids riding and enjoying the outdoors. This is why I believe that every child should have access and proper instruction to ride bikes. The freedom to see new places, near and far, is what kept me going back when I was a kid and still does to this day. Without my bike, I wouldn’t have been able to see the amazing places around the globe that my bike has allowed me to see.”
“One of my childhood idols, LeBron James, put riding a bike in its simplest state and said, ‘Me and my friends, when we got on our bikes, we would just ride. Sometimes we would even get lost, because we’d be gone for so long. But there was a sense of joy and comfort. There was nothing that could really stop us. We felt like we were on top of the world. It was a way of life. If you had a bike, it was a way to kind of let go and be free.”
