Rene & Chris Creed

Gateway Devo Cycling | Living Life on 2 Wheels | Pedal’n Pi

Rene grew up in a family-owned motorcycle business and, because of that, has always loved everything outdoors and two wheels. Over the last ten years, Rene, along with her husband, Chris, stayed busy with two companies: Gateway Harley Davidson and Gateway Devo Cycling, an amateur road cycling team. Developing individuals and growing the sport of cycling has been very important to both of them. In 2016, they sold the Harley Davidson dealership. Two months later, Rene applied for a grant through the Strider Education Foundation and was awarded the opportunity to host a biking camp for kids with Down Syndrome. The camp was one of the most beneficial experiences of giving Rene had ever experienced. Rene has a sister with Down Syndrome, so she understands just how special these kids are. It was from this great experience that she began fulfilling her passion for children, getting them outside, and empowering them.

Rene is working on building a mountain bike park, pump track and skills courses within her community’s existing parks. Ultimately, she hopes to have it all connected with safe trails. Rene has plans to change the world two wheels at a time and knows that starting within her community will help spread this culture. Rene had made it a personal goal to find funding for every grade school in Jefferson County, Mo. As a mom of eight children, Rene knows first-hand the ease and enjoyment that comes from learning to ride with a Strider Bike at a young age. She also knows that it is imperative to get more kids outside and off the couch.

Chris is the proud father of 8 children and the soulmate of Rene Creed. He is a master bicycle racer who enjoys road, cx, mtb, and is even venturing into the gravel and tri world in 2021. Like Rene, Chris began racing in the late 80’s,hung up the bike in 94′ to go to Johnson and Wales University for culinary arts. Chris worked in the restaurant industry until meeting Rene in 99′ when she pulled him back into the motorsports industry. “We were married six months later, and the rest is history!”, says Chris. They got back into the cycling world, sponsoring the Tour of Missouri bicycle race, which then led to the beginning of Gateway Devo Cycling, which has graduated 15 riders into the professional ranks of road cycling and one Navy fighter pilot. Gateway Devo Cycling opened the door to Living Life on 2 Wheels, which has brought them to Pedal’n Pi — set to open in February 2021.
