The NASCAR Foundation Funds All Kids Bike Program for Four Elementary Schools in Iowa

NEWTON, IA – May 28, 2024: All Kids Bike, the national nonprofit teaching kindergarten students how to ride bikes in PE class, is activating their All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program in two elementary schools at Grinnell-Newberg School District along with two additional schools in Iowa, thanks to a generous donation from The NASCAR Foundation.

The comprehensive program includes teacher training and certification, a fleet of 24 balance-to-pedal bikes, pedal conversion kits, helmets, an instructional bike for teachers, two rolling storage racks, and access to a resource portal with live support for the duration of the program. Grinnell-Newberg School District leadership celebrated the presentation of The NASCAR Foundation’s generous $36,000 gift alongside The NASCAR Foundation attendees, Iowa Speedway officials, and representatives from All Kids Bike at the Iowa Speedway.

“At The NASCAR Foundation we believe in providing resources to support the overall health and wellness of kids in our racing communities,” said Nichole Krieger, Vice President & Executive Director of The NASCAR Foundation. “We enjoy partnering with All Kids Bike and love to see how the kids build their confidence and have so much joy when they learn how to ride a bike.”

“We are incredibly honored and excited to receive this generous donation from the NASCAR Foundation,” said Lisa Weyer, Executive Director of All Kids Bike. “The NASCAR Foundation’s dedication to community and youth development resonates deeply with our mission to provide every child in America with the opportunity to learn to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class. This support will significantly enhance our efforts to equip schools with the necessary resources to teach biking skills, fostering a generation of confident and active kids. Together, we are driving towards a brighter, healthier future for our children.”

At Grinnell-Newberg School District this program will positively impact approximately 120 kindergarten students each year. With a lifespan of 7-10 years for the equipment, it is estimated that up to 1,200 students will benefit from this initiative over the next decade.

Grinnell-Newburg School District PE Teacher Tony Farmer is looking forward to implementing the program with the kindergarteners. “We are so excited to receive this generous gift.  Our kindergartners will be so delighted to get the opportunity to grow in their bike riding skills. They will be zooming around while they love learning this lifelong skill.  Thanks to All Kids Bike and NASCAR for thinking of our community.”

The NASCAR Foundation and All Kids Bike are committed to enriching the lives of young learners and cultivating valuable skills through the joy of bike riding. This collaborative effort exemplifies their dedication to building healthier, happier communities, one pedal at a time.
