Introducing the All Kids Bike Inclusive Learn-to-Ride Program: Empowering All Abilities through Biking
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a groundbreaking Inclusive Learn-to-Ride Program, a transformative initiative aimed at teaching people of ALL abilities and ALL ages the joy of riding a bike! For people with disabilities, physical activity can help support daily living activities and independence.
Powered by an effective online curriculum and Strider® 14x and 20x bikes, which seamlessly transition from balance to pedal conversion, this program is set to revolutionize the way we approach inclusivity in physical activity and achieve health equity.
Cycling holds immense significance for individuals with disabilities, offering them not only a means of mobility and transportation but also improved health and well-being. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness and understanding surrounding cycling as a mobility aid creates substantial obstacles for disabled individuals in accessing public spaces and facilities.
Recognizing the importance of inclusive physical activity, our Inclusive Learn-to-Ride Program is designed to empower participants with the skills and confidence to ride a bike, regardless of their physical abilities, age, or background. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy and freedom of two wheels.
Key benefits of the Inclusive Program include:
- Enhanced Independence: The ability to ride a bike fosters independence, enabling participants to explore their surroundings and navigate through their communities on their terms.
- Improved Balance and Motor Skills: Through specially crafted online video training, our program focuses on building essential balance and motor skills, promoting physical development and coordination.
- Inclusion and Social Interaction: Cycling provides a common ground for individuals of diverse abilities to come together, fostering social integration, connection, and an inclusive environment.
- Boosted Self-Esteem and Confidence: Learning to ride a bike instills a sense of accomplishment, empowering participants with newfound confidence and self-esteem.
The Inclusive Learn-to-Ride Program is offered at a cost of $4,000, providing an invaluable resource for organizational communities seeking to promote inclusivity and empower individuals of all abilities. The program has a lifespan of 7 to 10 years, ensuring lasting impact and continued benefits for participants.
Included in the program are:
- Teacher Training and Curriculum Certification: online video training specifically designed to make learning balance and riding easy in just 8 lessons.
- Complete Fleet of Learn-to-Ride Equipment: each program package comprises 8 Strider bikes, pedal conversion kits, and helmets. Recipients can select a combination of 14- and 20-inch bikes to suit the needs of their unique demographics.
- Program Support: for as long as the program is running and teaching individuals how to ride.
Erika Seaman, an Adapted PE Teacher at Exton Elementary School in Exton, Penn., described her experience with the Inclusive Program: “The Inclusive Program has been such an amazing experience for my autistic students. It has given them the opportunity to learn a lifetime skill that they can participate in with their families, neighbors, and friends. Sharing videos with parents who never thought they would see their child ride a bike is priceless. This program has given my students more confidence in themselves and has provided an outlet for exercise and play with their families and peers. I can’t say enough about this program and am excited to continue it for years to come.”
