FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Buckhannon Academy Elementary School Receives Kindergarten Bike Program

Every kindergartner will have the opportunity to learn to ride a bike in PE Class

BUCKHANNON, WV – October 1, 2019: Buckhannon Academy Elementary received a complete All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program, including Strider bikes, helmets and curriculum from All Kids Bike.

The first program of its kind in the state of West Virginia, this generous donation will help approximately 500 Buckhannon kindergarten students learn to ride over the next five years.

The Strider bikes were delivered to the kindergarten physical education class at Buckhannon Academy Elementary and will be incorporated into their curriculum during the fall/winter of 2019-2020.

All Kids Bike is a national movement on a mission to teach every child in America how to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class. All Kids Bike equips schools with everything teachers need to teach children how to ride bikes at zero cost to the school, thanks to generous donors.

This Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program includes a proven, integrative curriculum, staff training and certification, the revolutionary, child-friendly Strider bikes, and helmets. The fleet of dual propulsion, Strider bikes start as balance bikes and convert to pedal bikes. All Kids Bike also offers continued support for each school to ensure everyone involved is successful for five years.

Ryan McFarland, the visionary behind All Kids Bike, feels biking can open doors for children and create a deep passion for active, outdoor lifestyles; “Together, we have the power to chart a better, healthier course for our children’s future. It’s as simple as riding a bike.”

Buckhannon Academy Elementary PE Teacher Dan Helper applied for the program last year, seeking support to bring this program to his school, where many students do not have the chance to learn to ride a bike. “This program would give these students who have not had the opportunity to enhance their mobility and physical skills by riding bikes that are critical to their future success.”
